O.J. Simpson dead at 76 after battle with prostate cancer

Published By Alexandra Heilbron on Apr 11, 2024

O.J. SimpsonO.J. Simpson has died at the age of 76. His family released a statement on Simpson's X account that read: "On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace."

Simpson was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year and was in hospice care when he passed. He was known for his long NFL career, which he ended to pursue sports commentary and acting but he will be most remembered for the trials for the 1994 murders of his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman — one criminal and one civil.

Although he was found not guilty in the criminal trial, he was found guilty in the civil trial and ordered to pay $33 million in damages. He was later in trouble with the law in October 2008, when he was charged with 12 counts of armed robbery and kidnapping.

For this latter charge, he was sentenced to 33 years at the Lovelock Correctional Centre in Nevada but was released on parole in 2017.

Simpson is survived by four children: two of the three children from his first marriage to Marguerite Whitley and two from his marriage to Nicole Brown. ~Alexandra Heilbron with Mackenzie Heidrick.

I hope that no matter what was in his will, that his money goes to the families of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. They may have won a civil suit but he did his best to make sure they never got any money.

This is great news. That liar, murderer and cheat made sure he was paid in cash ever since the Goldman and Brown families won the lawsuit, so he would never have to pay them. He was pure evil. And that book, If I Did it, tells exactly how he did do it. BTW, those gloves fit him. There's a photo of him with them on. So they were a tight squeeze. Didn't mean a thing. All those jury members should go to hell, too, for letting a murdering liar walk free.

Too bad he got to live so long ... Nicole's children should be free now of guilt ... he didn't deserve their love. POS.

I feel sorry for the haters. They should worry where they are going to spend eternity!! God knows everything ... good, bad or indifferent.. We as black people have been brutally murdered, raped and enslaved for decades. No one has been charged, no retribution, etc, etc. I hope God has mercy on the ancestors. Someone WILL PAY.

May he rest in peace. I remember in primary school how we students all were certain he was guilty in the trial of his wife's murder. I hope we all including OJ, find our peace with God before leaving this world. Life is shorter than we think.
