Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) has a sleeping disorder in which he can't tell the difference between his waking life and dreams. He often falls asleep during the day and is having a problem keeping his job due to his disorder. He discovers a hidden key and ringing flip phone and answers it. A woman seems relieved to hear his voice, but calls him Marc, which confuses him. Believing he's going insane, Steven tries to get help.
