In the official trailer for the western film The Duel, a governor asks Texas ranger David Kingston (Liam Hemsworth) if he knows of a man named Abraham Brand (Woody Harrelson). The governor says there have been bodies turning up in a river and wants Kingston to find out if The Preacher is responsible. While out investigating, David and his wife come across a group of men on horseback who take them to see The Preacher. We find out in a flashback that The Preacher is the same man that killed his father 20 years ago, when David was a little boy. The Preacher tells David's wife she feels ill, and soon, she has a fever. David is told by a member of the congregation that he has no idea what's going on.
