Unfortunately, it is not a historically accurate movie. Tomyris was Scythian, who were East Iranian nomadic tribes that existed before the arrival of Alexander the Great (329 BC) just to give a context into the timeline. Yes, they inhabited the lands that now belong to Turkic nations, but Scythians are not their ancestors. Scythians are the nomadic ancestors of Sogdians and Bactrians, who have been mentioned in many Chinese, Persian and Greek texts for being skillful merchants. Just like there is a difference between a German and Germanic people, there is a difference between Persians (originated from Pars tribes and West Iranians) and Iranian people, such as Kurds, Tajiks (East Iranians), Ossetians, etc. The ancestors of current day Kazakh and Kyrgyz people migrated to Central Asia from Southern Siberia starting in 6th century AD. A genetic study done by Yunusbayev (Kazakh himself) published in PLoS Genetics, shows that the origin of all Turkish and Turkic people lead to Southern Siberia (Altay regions) and Mongolia. You can lie in text, but not in your DNA. Tomyris fought against the invasion of Cyrus, despite both sharing Iranian background. Just like Ukrainians are fighting Russians despite both being Slavic. Cyrus is portrayed as a barbarian, but he is remembered as a very progressive king for his time, who allowed people of his occupied lands to practice their own religion, including Jews (he is mentioned in Torah and Bible for allowing them to rebuilt the Temple of Solomon). He introduced the first mentioned instance of federal type of country management, just like the US, where each satrap (state) had its own governor. But as Tajiks, we also believe that Tomyris was an awesome warrior that killed Cyrus. She was a true leader who united Saka and Scythian tribes to fight the Persians. Showing both of their merits and failures are not mutually exclusive. You can be a visionary wanting to expand your kingdom, and a loving matriarch refusing to fal

Why in this film the massagetes have physical appearance of Turkish-Mongols ? The Massagetes was a Saka-Scythian tribe of iranic strain, so they was an indoeuropean people and they has an european physical appearance, as the ancient sources tell. I understand that it's a kazak film but this is a very big, bad and unkillable inaccuracie.

Horrible movie, full if lies and hate for a great kingdom that should be remembered and embraced rather than talked down to. It is ashaming to see things like this made and such insults made to a great king and kingdom which offends many people. Its a shame!

This movie is trying to show you , what is absolutely not correct ! The story told by herodotus , is famous for lack of historical evidence and there's a lot of doubt about it!!! And every historian call this as a story told by herodotus **not exactly 100% what happened** (Ofcourse the only way to understand that is to look deeper than just trying to find that by a quick search) I've researched and asked questions about what actually happened and they told me not only cyrus the great was a great king but he was always kind even with enemies and Prisoners! And that's why you can find the reflection of hes name being remembered by greatness and humanity everywhere you look! What this movie is trying to show you is a crazy antagonist, and a blood thirty psychopath!! And because of that, I do not recommend this movie , not even to my enemy!!

Not only this movie have multiple weaknesses which are quite obvious in the eyes of anyone who cares about cinema... it's also not correct and inaccurate in many ways! Like showing cyrus the great like a monster antagonist!! A great kind that founded the achaemenid empire! One of the first and greatest empires In history! Ive wasted my time watching this! And at the end, I DO NOT SUGGEST THIS MOVE

A part of history Americans know nothing about. Kind of stupid where all the nomads are living in a desert; only a few shots of real grassland. I saw the Italian voiced over version with very illiterate english subs; good thing I can get around in most romance languages! Much better than I expected.

Stunning film! Incredible story. Cannot believe i haven't heard of it before. A little bit slow in the beginning, bare with it and you won't regret it. Aizhan LighG performance is spectacular. She absolutely blew me away. If I were to pick my favorite part of the film, it'd be the middle where Tomiris is taken under Savromats wing where she fights along the female army of sardana.
