CBS has taken the Emmy award-winning talk show The Talk off the air for another week after last week's discussion about racism between Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood got a little heated.
During a show last week, Sheryl challenged Sharon's support of her friend Piers Morgan, who had said on air that he said he didn't believe Meghan Markle when she said she had considered suicide and that she had been subjected to racism. Following over 41,000 official complaints to the network, Morgan exited Good Morning Britain. Sharon tweeted: "@piersmorgan I am with you. I stand by you. People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth."
Sheryl asked Sharon, "What would you say to people who may feel that, while you're standing by your friend, it appears that you gave validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist, even if you don't agree?"
Sharon became angry and defensive as she responded to the question, saying that she felt like she was being put in the electric chair for having a friend that some people think is racist.
The discussion carried on after a commercial break, when Sharon, who was clearly still upset, told Sheryl, "And don't try to cry. If anyone should be crying, it should be me," adding, "Educate me! Tell me when you have heard him say racist things."
Sharon tweeted out an apology last Friday, which read in part, "I have always been embraced with so much love & support from the black community & I have deep respect & love for the black community," adding, "I panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive and allowed my fear and horror of being accused of being racist take over." However, the story doesn't end there.
On Tuesday, journalist Yashar Ali published a report alleging that Sharon referred to her former The Talk co-host Julie Chen as "wonton" and "slanty eyes." She also reported that Sharon called former co-host Sara Gilbert, who is openly lesbian, a "p---- licker" and "fish eater."
In response, Sharon spoke to the British paper The Daily Mail on Wednesday, sounding very unapologetic. She called the claims "crap, all crap" and even repeated the racist language she'd been accused of, saying, "Everyone's got an opinion or a story like the wonton story. It's like f--- off with your f------ wonton story. F--- off!" ~Sean Olegario
Update: Sharon Osbourne is no longer part of the show. CBS released a statement, which read in part: "Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave The Talk. The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home. As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace."
Sharon isn't racist. Just because she doesn't believe Meghan's (who looks 99% Caucasian) story doesn't make her a racist. Use logic please. Microaggressions are nonsense, as well as wokeness, and cancel culture needs to go away.

You are no longer allowed to have your own opinion.......and when you do - you're expected to apologize for it....Sharon, you shouldn't have apologized. All this "other stuff" that Sharon "supposedly" said....let's not jump to conclusions.....don't always believe the worst.
Pretty callow journalism on this one. Look at the spin on the final paragraph. "Sounding very unapologetic" is an opinion. No one knows what is going on in a person's mind other than the person themself. The fact that she posted an apology (which I agree from comments above should not have been needed), should have been enough. Sure would be nice to see real journalism come back into vogue rather that catering to a mob. Sickening.
If someone doesn’t believe someone else was suicidal how does that make them a racist? Or supporting that person makes you a racist? Come one all you ignorant “woke†people, my goodness. I don’t even agree with what Piers Morgan said but it doesn’t conclude he’s a racist.
How sad is it commenters claim not racism by saying someone is not, yet the actions and words of that someone shows racism directly. People like to categorize which include stereotyping and name calling and when either labels towards a race that is racism. When someone talks about another’s sexuality that is sexism. When someone talks about another’s age and “that’s how they act†is a generalization and ageism. And so on. The retort to such comments made by that someone should not be “it’s crap†but should be “I didn’t think I was racist but maybe I am. Maybe I have a hell of a lot to learn so I can grow as a person and free myself of my hang ups, my name-calling, my stereotyping others and reflect into myself. I didn’t realize and didn’t mean my comments as they were ignorant and so am I. I will learn from this and one day maybe I won’t be racist, ignorant and so blind to myself.â€
Come on people. What we have here regarding Sara and Julie is hearsay. Unless we've heard these things, we should take each statement reportedly made with a grain of salt. As for standing by Morgan, I do as well. Markle has been playing the race card since she started dating Harry. Again, all statements are hearsay. They left the royal family to get out of the spotlight. With the HARPO interview, she put herself right into the spotlight and on the covers of magazines and newspapers all over the world. Face it. She thought she would marry Harry, become a princess and stay in the spotlight. She will never outshine or even be equal to the decent, kind human being Kate is. And that is her problem. She can't compare to Kate nor will she ever be queen so her next best spotlight stealer is to defame the family while getting her craved attention. Really, unless we are witness to any of this "talk" we should keep an open mind and not make snap judgments.
Well, Sharon just pushed another rusty nail in her own coffin, bye bye to her career on TV! Da!

Have lost my respect for Sharon as outspoken but respectful woman. To call someone a slit-eyed wonton (assuming this is true) is just a racist as us calling her a .... (whatever to denote her Brit background) Just as we cannot confirm Meghan and Harry comments does not mean its not true. C'mon ok so yu diss Meghan but Harry??? The boy needs more respect... I'm sick and tired of the racist and counter culture generation. You can't say anything anymore without being called something or labelled. I've had other races say things about me and i can't say anything because i would be labelled a white racist or supremist. I'm still trying to figure out how Piers Morgan saying he didn't believe Markle is racist. It was his opinion and I didn't see him singling out Markle because of her race, he simply said he didn't believe her. I can see how this could have unhinged Sharon; she was sucker punched and obviously having a difficult time wrapping her head around what her co host had said to her. Seems the "woke" people are digging for anything they can to label people who are not afraid to express their thoughts and feelings....anything "percieved" as racist, even when it wasn't, causes people to be "cancelled" How ridiculous. Therefore you still have your free will to be racist. But while it may be free to be expressed it cannot be free of consequences. If you believe you have a right to express racists view so much then go ahead and do it and suffer the consequences when companies fire you, you get cancelled or rightfully ridiculed. When MLK thought segregation was wrong or Ghandi fought for civil rights they put their life on the line for it they knew the potential consequences and was prepared to face then . Only 14 percent of the American population is black. For 8 years we had a black president, now we have a black Vice President. Almost every commercial there’s an African American in it. Politicians, actors, police, etc everywhere. This racist card is getting ridiculous.
