Kim's Convenience tells the funny and heartfelt story of the Kim family.

Mr. and Mrs. Kim, or "Appa" (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) and "Umma" (Jean Yoon), are Korean Canadian convenience store owners in a neighborhood of Toronto. They immigrated to Toronto from South Korea with their now grown-up children, Janet (Andrea Bang) and Jung (Simu Liu).

Grumpy and opinionated, Appa has a complicated relationship with Jung, who ran away from home as a teenager and now works at a car rental shop. Umma has stayed in touch, although Appa does not approve of this. Their daughter, Janet, is a student at the Ontario College of Art and Design and she lives at home with her parents, helping them out at the convenience store.

Mr. and Mrs. Kim have worked hard to give their children a better life in Canada. This sitcom finds laughter in the trials of running a literal "Mom and Pop" shop while raising kids in a culture that is not quite your own.

Based on Ins Choi's 2011 play, Kim's Convenience.
