Hunger Games prequel stays on top at weekend box office

There were some changes in the top five at the weekend box office, with three new major releases opening early to start off the U.S. Thanksgiving weekend. Find out which of them made it to the top.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, a prequel to the original Hunger Games trilogy, held onto the top spot for the second weekend in a row, taking in an extra $28.8 million for a two-week total of $98.4 million.

The biopic Napoleon starring Joaquin Phoenix in the title role debuted in second place with a take of $20.4 million over the weekend for a total of $32.5 million since Wednesday.

The animated movie Wish from Disney debuted in third place, earning $19.5 million for a total of $31.7 million since releasing on Wednesday.

Trolls Band Together dropped two places to fourth, taking in an additional $17.5 million for a two-week total of $64.5 million.

Rounding out the top five was Thanksgiving, about a serial killer in Plymouth, Massachusetts. It earned an extra $7.2 million for a two-week total of $24. 2 million.
