Inside Out 2 retains top spot at weekend box office

Inside Out 2 retained its box office champion status for the third weekend in a row, earning an extra $55.4 million for an incredible three-week total of $469.3 million.

A Quiet Place: Day One starring Lupita Nyong'o as a woman caught in an alien invasion in NYC debuted in second place with $53 million. Click here to read our review.

The western film Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 from director/writer/actor Kevin Costner debuted in third place, taking in $11 million.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence dropped two spots, from second to fourth, earning another $10.3 million for a four-week haul of $165.3 million.

Rounding out the top five was Kalki 2898 AD, about a modern-day avatar of a hindu god who is believed to have descended to earth to protect the world from evil. It earned $5.4 million for a total of $11 million since it opened on June 27.
