Jackie Hoffman Biography

Born in Queens, NYC, Jackie Hoffman has been a household name in Hollywood since the 1990s. Known for acting, singing, and comedy, she began her career in 1992 and continues to find success today.

Her first project was the film Mo’ Money (1992) in which she played Jill — from that point, she was kept busy in all aspects of Hollywood. A year later in 1993, she made her television debut as a guest on Flying Bird as a sales clerk. Then in 1995 made her onstage debut in the off-Broadway musical One Woman Shoe as Jill.

She has appeared on Broadway in the musical Hairspray as Prudy Pingleton, in Xanadu as Calliope and Aphrodite, The Addams Family as Grandma, and much more. In addition, she worked an eight-year tenure with the Second City Troupe that won her the Joseph Jefferson Award, Chicago's venerable theater award. During her tenure, Jackie starred in the solo comedy performances If You Call This Living, The Kvetching Continues, Jackie Hoffman’s Hanukkah, to name a few.

Since her film debut, Jackie has appeared in many more films such as Robots (2005) as the voice of Water Cooler, The Entrepreneurs (2008) as Janet, The Social Ones (2019) as Amanda and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) as Ma.

On television, Jackie has appeared on many shows as a guest, but most notably has appeared as the voice of Dilmom in Dilbert, Uma Heller in Only Murders in the Building, and Mamacita in Feud: Bette and Joan. Her role in Feud: Bette and Joan earned her a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.

Jackie doesn’t let anything stop her from achieving her goals, as she has spoken of her diagnosis with amblyopia, a condition that has left her blind in one eye. 

Jackie also appeared in the 2023 Paramount+ series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies as Assistant Principal McGee, as well as the drama film A Good Person (2023) as Belinda and played Irene in the Adam Sandler Netflix film You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah (2023).

Jackie is married to Steve Smyth.
