104dB sound can damage your hearing

February 29, 2024

Used an app on my phone and measured over 104db of sound pressure. Literature suggests 5 minutes at that level can permanently damage your hearing. It was at or over 90dB for almost the entire "isn't our sounds system great! You can FEEL it" segment. Worst was during the previews. I kind of expect that level for seconds during cannon shots and whatnot, but not for as long as they ran it. We almost walked out. This is also a recliner only theater. Years ago AMC had food service at these premium theaters, but I think they moved and eliminated it. Bar was not open for our 3:45 show, guessing that is "after 6" only. $17 for a pretzel? Really? Don't care how big it is... that is just silly.

Terrible experience,

Terrible, terrible, terrible! We bought advance tickets for "The Chosen." Our tickets clearly said "Screen 8." Two couples. We arrive early and take our seats and a few minutes later another couple arrives and says we are in their seats. He shows us his phone and it reads the same as ours. We all go out the the front, and they tell us our movie has moved, we should be in theater 2. So, we all go to theater 2, which is halfway through the new Black Panther movie. We go back out front again, and are told we need to be in theater 3. This is the second time this has happened to us at The Streets of St. Charles AMC. Why bother with advance tickets if you keep moving the showing? The "ticket taker" should have told us of the change, but she was obviously clueless. It would help if you posted the movie title outside of the individual screening room. Second time for us at this location, we will just start going to the other chain in the future. Very, very frustrating.

This is the only theater I choose to come to for ease of enjoyment. Love the inside parking and the customer service. Thank you.
